Toute la musqiue occidentale est basée sur la gamme majeure, composée des intervalles suivants :

Touver les notes sur le manche

Un manche de guitare de 24 cases comporte 150 notes. Avec un accordage standard, la note Mi (E) se retrouve 14 fois sur ce type de manche. Il n'est donc pas évident d'apprendre toutes les notes. Et pourtant, il existe une méthode simple qui permet de s'y retrouver. Il suffit d'apprendre les notes sur la 6ème, et la 5ème corde, en travaillant ses Power Chords par exemple, et d'appliquer la méthode des octaves :

A partir d'une note sur la 6ème corde (E), on trouve la même sur la 4ème corde (D), 2 cases plus bas
A partir d'une note sur la 5ème corde (A), on trouve la même sur la 3ème corde (G), 2 cases plus bas
A partir d'une note sur la 5ème corde (A), on trouve la même sur la 2ème corde (B), 2 cases plus haut
A partir d'une note sur la 6ème corde (E), on trouve la même sur la 1ème corde (E), à la même case
